~ Bread for the Journey ~
~ 23rd Sunday in Ordinary Time ~
I am so glad that God is God and you and I are not. The parable of the Prodigal Son reminds us that God deals with us and our sinfulness so much differently then we deal with our own. The tendency for many people when they sin is to pull back and emotionally hide from God like Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden. We feel unworthy of God’s love, friendship and mercy. The dangerous thing about dealing with our sinfulness in this way is that this misguided approach leads us to deprive ourselves of the Divine Physician who is the source of our deepest healing. The practical effect of this approach is that we actually make ourselves spiritually weaker, sicker and more despondent....

"Prayers Answered Book" We are pleased to announce that a “Prayers Answered Book” has been placed in the vestibule of the Adoration Chapel. This book will allow people to record the outcomes of prayers of petition offered during visits to the Blessed Sacrament.
We are asking the adorers to record their prayers that have been answered, even if not in the manner that had been hoped. We ask that the adorers write only as much as they are comfortable revealing because these prayers answered will be read by others. Our hope is that the prayers that have been answered will serve as example to others that no obstacle is too great to be overcome by prayer. It is also our hope that the conversion experienced by those who place their prayers in the hands of God will serve as inspiration to others to do likewise.
We ask that the adorers write or print clearly and legibly, and that only the results of prayers are recorded. Other books are available in which to write petitions and requests for prayer. This book is intended only for the outcome of prayers that have been made in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament in the Adoration Chapel.
~What's Going on at St. Joseph! ~
Men of St. Joseph New to our parish, this is a ministry intended for family men. This group will meet Wednesday mornings at 6:00 am, in the Family Life Center, for prayer and reflection on Sacred Scripture.
Here’s a definition from their website, www.menofstjoseph.com . We are the Men of St. Joseph, a group of Catholic guys dedicated to being the spiritual leaders of our families while becoming the best versions of ourselves.
Sure, it's a struggle to balance being a father, bread winner, businessman, coach, friend, husband and spiritual leader of your family. The Men of St. Joseph understands that with each other's support and shared accountability it becomes a little easier. Most importantly, we know that if we surrender our day-to-day problems to God we will be better fathers, husbands and friends. Through Christ, we will be better men. We welcome you to join us on this journey. Come on, give it a shot.
